Recommended Reading from the Eduweb Conference

Posted in Conferences

Can I just say that this is not a complete list. With school already starting for some folks and the rest soon to follow, I figured I  would follow up on my list from last year and  release my 2009 version of recommended reading. Granted I wasn’t able to attend every session, I think know that this list will continue to grow with your comments.

In no particular order:  (Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate):

This is the second year that I’ve attended the EduWeb Conference. This year, there were more sessions that I wish I could of attended but couldn’t because some of them happened at the same time. Fortunately, thanks to to the resources of Twitter, I was able to view what was going on, even though I wasn’t in the room.

Time for Recommended/ Required College Reading Lists

Posted in college, courses, Reading, Training

Its that time of the year again when 1st time college students or students entering into a new program are receiving their recommended/required reading lists. I was reminded by this by a friend who is returning to school for their masters degree.

During the eduweb2008 conference , quite a number of books were recommended for reading.

I plan to get stared on my reading list soon, but in the meantime, you can check out some of the recommendations made during the conference that I’m pondering.

What I’ve learned from the EduWeb Conference

Posted in college, Conferences, Education

Ok, now that I’ve had time to recuperate and time to review and absorb nearly everything all eduweb2008, I have time to put in my 2 dollars (hey, that’s inflation for ya.)

In the session How to Accelerate your Search Marketing Campaigns in Education by Jennifer Brady, University of Massachusetts & Dave Reske, NowSpeed Inc,  I was able to take away tips and immediately implement them on some client campaigns.

In another session, ( I forget each one, or was it all of them that blended into the same message) I am foraging ahread and also implementing new initiatives for my clients across the board, (not just for those in education.)

Stay tuned to learn more about the next stop in the nextSTEPH road tour.

Local NYC radio stations getting personal with postcards

Posted in college, Conferences, Education

Not even hours after returning from the eduWeb 2008 conference, I find a postcard in my mailbox from a local New York City Metro radio station.

This is what it said:

Bonus Chance to Instantly Win

Visit *www.FirstName.LastName.winwithRadioStation.com

Your personal instant Win Code: *********** ”

If you are in the NYC Area, you probably know which radio station(s) I’m talking about. I immediately thought, “Hey, I’ve seen this before!”

I then contacted Queens Artists told her about it and she said “Yeah, another radio station sent me a postcard too.”

So this is not something to write off. Has radio gone back to school and took a course on “Getting Too Personal too Soon Marketing 101?
